Stat!
The quiet voice
rises over the sea
of white sheets,
in anger.
His beard, his fear
shout a storm
of red
over his Dad,
his love
on high flash
of tooth and claw,
his deep tracks
gouging
the pre-op murmurs
outside
the O.R. door,
his father’s
surgeons
in sudden
notice
their patient
is a family man
not the number
at the end of a bed.
