Of calamine and honey

    by Katherine DiBella Seluja

Make a list

of all that is broken

sparrow egg

his cherry tree face

and all that is amniotic

children's feet scuffle

over cracks in sidewalk

wide enough

for 3 small pebbles

and nests of wasp

you can't go on that way

only thorns to catch your fall

and his words

buzzing at your ankles

searching for the tender spot
